A message from Dale

A Message from Dale:

"My name is Walter "Dale" Miller and I have been called to serve.

I am a husband, a father and an attorney. I was born in Miami, and have been a resident of Broward County for more than 20 years.

When I was 18, I heard the call to serve my country. I answered. For 12 years I served in the United States Navy with honor and distinction. I am the only candidate in my race who has served my country and I thank you for having had the privilege to serve.

Today I stand before you answering the call to serve my community as your next Circuit Court Judge.

I have chosen an anchor as the symbol for my campaign. To me, the anchor represents faith and strength of purpose, as well as my military service.

When I was in the Navy, I served as a sailor.

When I was in law school, I served three internships with Mike Satz, your elected state attorney for the past 40 years.

I served as a prosecutor.

When I graduated from law school, I went to work as a civil attorney in admiralty and in my own private practice.

I served as a private attorney.

For the past 12 years, I have worked for Howard Finkelstein in the public defender’s office.

And so, for more than a decade, I have served as a public defender.

When you elect me to the circuit court bench, I will serve as a judge.

Not as a prosecutor.

Not as a defense attorney.

Not as a private attorney.

As a judge.

I will use all of my military training to make sure that your courtroom is run efficiently, effectively and with as little wasted time as possible.

I will ensure that every person who stands before the court is treated with the dignity and respect that is due all of God’s children.

No issue that comes before me will ever be decided before all sides are heard.

Where the law controls, I will follow the law – scrupulously and honorably.

Where there is discretion, I will use my discretion - carefully, consciously and using all of the hard earned legal and unique real-world experience that I possess.

Where flexibility is warranted, flexibility will be given.

Where sternness is needed, I will stand firm.

When a decision must be made, it will be made  - thoughtfully, timely and fearlessly.

That is my pledge to you.

I believe that, when you are called, it is your duty to answer.

I believe that, when you throw out an anchor, you must have faith that it will do its job and to hold firm.

When you elect me as your next circuit court judge, I will answer and, like an anchor, I will be your judge – in faith, in service and in strength of purpose.

Please vote for Walter "Dale" Miller on August 28th."
